We're looking for an exceptional Head of People & Culture to join our Executive Leadership Team and lead the people strategy at The Newman during an exciting period of growth.
Reporting directly to the General Manager and leading our People & Culture function with one People & Culture Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in attracting, developing, engaging and retaining exceptional people while continuing to build a culture where our teams can thrive.
Working closely with our Executive Team and departmental leaders, you'll combine strategic people leadership with a hands-on approach across talent, learning & development, employee relations, engagement, reward, payroll and workforce planning.
You'll also play an important role in developing our future leaders and supporting the continued growth of the wider business, including new concepts and openings.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality People & Culture leader to make a genuine impact within one of London's newest independent luxury hotels.
About You and the Role
We're looking for someone who will:
- Develop and deliver The Newman's REAL People & Culture strategy, ensuring our people practices support the hotel's culture, commercial objectives and REAL People values.
- Lead talent management and succession planning, identifying high-potential employees and creating meaningful career progression and internal promotion opportunities.
- Coach and develop our leaders, building confident, high-performing management teams through regular coaching, mentoring and structured development.
- Own the hotel's Learning & Development strategy, including a monthly training calendar, Departmental Trainer network, mandatory training compliance and monthly development sessions for line managers.
- Lead our recruitment strategy.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations, ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and best practice.
- Lead our approach to reward, recognition and benefits, while managing the People & Culture budget and partnering with departmental leaders on payroll, labour forecasting and people related costs.
- Produce and analyse key people metrics, including engagement, retention, turnover, recruitment and development, presenting insights and recommendations to the Executive Team.
- Oversee Fourth and our wider people systems, end-to-end payroll processes and tronc administration, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation.
- Support future business growth, including people planning for new concepts, restaurants and hotels, ensuring scalable people practices and strong talent pipelines are in place.
- Lead and develop our People & Culture Advisor, creating a collaborative, proactive and highly visible People & Culture function.
- Bring 5+ years' experience in a senior HR or People & Culture leadership role, with hospitality experience essential. CIPD Level 5 or above would be advantageous.
- The ability to process end to end payroll via Fourth is essential.
