We are looking for an experienced and detail-focused Hotel Accountant to join our Finance team at The Newman. This is a varied, hands-on role combining hotel accounting, income audit, revenue control, reconciliations and month-end reporting, with the opportunity to work closely with teams across the entire hotel.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role in protecting the financial integrity of the hotel, ensuring our revenue is accurately captured and reconciled while providing meaningful financial support to our operational teams.

About You and The Role

As Hotel Accountant at The Newman, you will:

  • Complete daily income audits, ensuring revenue across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Events, Spa and other hotel revenue streams is accurately captured and reconciled
  • Reconcile revenue between Opera Cloud, MICROS, payment platforms and the General Ledger, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
  • Review rate integrity, package allocations, complimentary items, discounts, refunds, voids, house charges and negative postings, ensuring appropriate controls and authorisations are in place
  • Proactively identify potential revenue leakage and work with operational teams to strengthen processes and financial controls
  • Manage daily cash banking, petty cash, floats and credit card reconciliations, investigating variances and supporting chargeback queries where required
  • Monitor guest ledger, paymaster and deposit accounts, ensuring balances, deposits and credit card authorisations are accurate and appropriately managed
  • Support Accounts Receivable, including raising invoices and statements, allocating payments and refunds, and following up outstanding balances within agreed credit terms
  • Assist with month-end journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Work closely with leaders across Front Office, Reservations, Food & Beverage, Spa and Events, providing financial guidance and helping to build greater commercial awareness across the hotel
  • Support the wider Finance team across Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Cost Control and Stock Control when required
  • Work confidently across hotel and finance systems including Fourth, Adaco, M3, Fairmas, MICROS and Opera Cloud, supporting data accuracy and effective reporting
  • Bring previous experience from a hospitality Finance department, ideally within a luxury hotel environment, with experience as a Finance Assistant, Income Auditor, Hotel Accountant or similar
  • Have a strong understanding of revenue reconciliation, financial controls and accounting principles, alongside excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An AAT, bookkeeping or equivalent accounting qualification would be advantageous, as would previous experience with hotel finance systems and exposure to budgeting and forecasting.
