This is your chance to shape a luxury lifestyle hotel from the ground up. As part of our pre-opening team, we’re looking for a skilled and hands-on Shift Engineer to support our Engineering Supervisor and Director of Facilities and help keep the hotel running like clockwork. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our spaces are safe, smooth, and comfortable for both our guests and our people.

About You and The Role

• We’re looking for an Engineering Supervisor who:
• Enjoys working in a dynamic, hands-on environment – especially during a hotel pre-opening
• Has experience in engineering or maintenance, ideally in hospitality
• Understands core systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lifts, and fire safety
• Can confidently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Communicates clearly with people across the hotel, including suppliers and contractors
• Works well under pressure, prioritising and managing multiple tasks
• Takes pride in record keeping, safety checks, and compliance
• Is flexible to work shifts on a 4 on 4 off basis, weekends, and emergency callouts as needed
• Holds a relevant technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ) – preferred but not essential

The Newman will offer 81 rooms and suites, including a luxurious rooftop signature suite with a private terrace and dedicated wellness area. Guests can enjoy an all-day brasserie serving dishes inspired by Northern European flavours and Gambit Bar, offering a range of cocktails and local craft beers, the hotel also features an entire floor dedicated to Wellness.
