People & Culture Officer (6-Month Contract)

The Newman is bringing a new energy to Fitzrovia – a luxury hotel where people, purpose, and care come first. We’re looking for a People & Culture Officer to support the building of an exceptional team culture from the ground up. You’ll work closely with the Director of People & Culture and play a key role in the everyday rhythm of our team’s journey – from onboarding and internal comms to supporting learning, development, and culture initiatives.

About You and the Role

As a People & Culture Officer at The Newman, you will:

• Supporting the recruitment process, including advertising roles, coordinating interviews, and assisting with the onboarding of new starters.
• Help the implementation and effective use of technology and P&C systems that streamline processes and enhance the employee journey.
• Assist with internal communications, including sharing team updates and values-driven messaging
• Help coordinate training sessions and support L&D initiatives
• Be a friendly, helpful point of contact for day-to-day people queries
• Support employee engagement projects and recognition initiatives
• Provide general administrative and project work support to the Director of People & Culture
• You’ll play a key role in ensuring our people feel valued, connected, and supported from day one.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in a People & Culture / HR role, ideally in hospitality
• Excellent communication skills with warmth and clarity
• Organised, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy
• Passionate about supporting people and creating great workplace experiences
• Knowledge of Fourth, Sideways and Wagestream would be a bonus
