About You and the Role

As a Groups & Events Manager at The Newman, you will:

• Manage confirmed events from enquiry stage through to contracting, execution, and post-event follow-up
• Quote, negotiate, and contract group and event business for the hotel as well as finding opportunities to cross-sell across the business
• Produce detailed function sheets, event orders, and group resumes
• Conduct client planning meetings and site visits
• Coordinate closely with the operational teams to ensure seamless event delivery
• Ensure room layouts, timings, menus, billing details, and technical requirements are confirmed accurately in advance
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients once contracts are confirmed
• Build strong relationships with corporate bookers, agencies, and private clients
• Handle last-minute changes calmly, professionally, and with a solutions-focused mindset
• Upsell menus, beverages, AV, bedrooms, and additional services to maximise revenue opportunities
• Maintain accurate records within Delphi, Opera and other hotel systems, ensuring contracts, deposits, and payment schedules are managed correctly

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience within Groups & Events, Event Planning, or Sales within a 4 or 5-star hotel environment
• Strong understanding of corporate meetings, private dining, group bookings, and social events
• Confidence in client-facing situations and relationship management
• Experience using hotel systems such as Delphi, Opera, or similar platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Commercially aware with an understanding of revenue targets
